Prof. Dr. Babu.T. Jose   B.E., M. Tech., Ph.D., FIGS, MISTE, MIE C. Eng.

Prof. Dr. Babu T. Jose is the Former Director of School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi. He has teaching and administrative experience of over 30 years. He formulated B. Tech. in Information Technology and Safety and Fire Engineering for the first time in India, in 1995 and in 1996 respectively. He introduced B. Tech. course in Marine Engineering in CUSAT in 1998 for the first time in Kerala. Recognizing his professional excellence Govt. of Kerala appointed him Special Officer to make recommendations for establishment of Technical University for Kerala 2005-2006.

He took B. E. from N. I. T. Warangal with Nehru Memorial Gold Medal in 1967 and M. Tech from IIT Madras in 1972. He was awarded Ph.D. from CUSAT in 1990. He has guided 10 students for Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. There are over 70 research papers in International and National Journals and Conferences including prestigious Journals in Engineering like ‘Geotechnique’, Marine Geotechnology, ASTM Testing Journal etc. to his credit. He has won two national awards for best research papers in marine geotechnology.

His ‘Log-log method for determination of preconsolidation pressure’ has been recognized by American Society for Testing Materials and referred to in several text books and journals in India and abroad.

He has been a consultant in geotechnical engineering since 1970. He has successfully developed a new foundation technique adaptable to soils of Kerala, especially soft clays along the Western coast from Konkan to Kanyakumari.

He is the author of two books published by Kerala Language Institute. He is a Fellow of Indian Geotechnical Society, New Delhi and the founder President of Indian Geotechnical Society, Cochin.

Prof Dr.T.K.Mani   B.Tech (Electrical), M.Tech (Electronics), Ph. D

Prof. Dr. T.K. Mani started his career as a technician in Department of Telecommunication (now BSNL). He then switched over his job to Indian Telephone Industries Limited. He had worked in Indian Telephone Industries at various capacities. He studied while in service and took his  B.Tech degree (1st rank) from Government Engineering College, Trichur. Later he bagged his MTech degree and Ph. D from CUSAT.

After 18 years working in Industry, he changed his career and became a faculty of Model Engineering College. He worked in College of Engineering Poonjar, College of Engineering Cherthala and Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara as Principal.  He had more than 18 years of teaching and administrative experience.

Dr. Mani Joined AISAT after retiring from Model Engineering College.

Dr. T. K. Mani is very closely associated with the Industry. He is offering consultancy services to various Industries like Kochi Refineries Ltd, V Guard Industries Ltd, and CRAYSOL. He is the gold level design partner of Microchip Inc USA, the world’s largest microcontroller manufacturer. He had designed many electronic devices and equipment’s that are being used by Process Industries, automobiles and in consumer electronics. Many of his designs won prizes and awards in international level. He was also holding the charge of Deputy Director of the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) Regional center, Edappally.  He established a Skill development research and development center at the IHRD Regional Centre.

Dr. Mani had guided many student projects that won awards in national level contests and also received project grants form government agencies.

He is the recipient of Sir CV Raman award for the best research paper published in the Journal of Acoustical Society of India (2002)

He organized a number of National level seminars and had acted as editor of the seminar proceedings and journals. He had a number of national and International research paper publications.

He is an author of the book, Ham radio projects published in the year 1998.

He is a Life member of ISTE,  Fellow of ISTE and member of IEEE.

Dr. Mani is also very active in social activities as well. He is the Secretary for Information and Public Relations of the organization named MITHRAM, a charitable organization working for the benefit of mentally challenged people. He was also the chief coordinator for the Skill Development Programme for Women and other Weaker Sections of the Society, which is carriedout under the banner of IHRD with the financial assistant from the Plan fund of Government of Kerala.

He is a Ham radio enthusiast and devotes his spare time to promote Amateur radio.
